Is a Podiatrist the right person to see for my problem?
A podiatrist is a registered, qualified health professional who specialises in foot and ankle health. They can help to prevent, diagnose this can include anything from foot pain, nail disorders, diabetic foot problems, to name but a few. Podiatrists can also effectively treat other conditions such as shin splints (pain in the lower leg) for example.

Do I Need a referral from my GP?
No. Anyone can come and see a Podiatrist and if you have private health insurance which covers ‘Podiatry’ services a rebate will apply. However, the Department of Veteran affairs or through the Enhanced Primary Care Program you will need to be referred to our Clinic by your General Practitioner.
Do you offer after hours appointments?
Yes. We are open Monday to Friday with evening appointments available in our Blackburn clinic on Tuesday. Please contact the clinic for further details on (03) 9878 4566.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Where possible it is helpful to see the footwear that you wear the majority of the time (i.e. work boots, office footwear etc.). Also bring along any x-rays or other scans that you may have as well as a referral letter if you were sent by another health professional.
Can I get a rebate from my private health insurance?
Melbourne Foot, Ankle and Walking Clinic offers HICAPS facilities which allows convenient on-the-spot health fund rebates for patients insured with eligible health funds. We advise patients to contact their health fund for further information regarding rebates. Rebates will vary between funds, we can provide you with item codes so you can check with your health fund directly how much you are covered for.
It is a requirement that fees are paid at the time of your consultation.
